Ayodhya Airport: All set to welcome devotees to Ram temple

Airport Authority officials informed that more than 78 per cent of the terminal building's work is done, with the remaining being undertaken in two daily shifts at a fast pace. Both aprons will offer parking facilities for four aircraft each, with one apron already complete and the latter swiftly underway.

Devotees for the legendary Ram Temple in Ayodhya will soon be able to board a direct flight there as the Maryada Purushottam Shriram International Airport nears completion. Under the combined efforts of the Central and state government of Uttar Pradesh, the sacred city of Shri Ram is witnessing an enthusiastic rejuvenation. 

“All the works of Maryada Purushottam Shriram International Airport are to be done in three phases” – reported District Magistrate Nitish Kumar, according to ANI.

A total of 821 acres of land, critical to the project, has successfully been acquired. The construction of the airport’s runway, an essential part of the aviation facility, has also been carried out for the preliminary phase. 

  • CAT-1 and RESA: These essential facilities, crucial for night landing and landing in fog and mist conditions, are a cent per cent ready.
  • ATC Tower: Fulfilling a key role in the airport’s operation, the ATC tower’s construction is also completed.
  • Instrument Landing System (ILS): Ensuring safe and accurate landing, the components within the ILS such as localizer, glide path marker, D.M.E, etc. have been calibrated.

A glimpse into the airport’s progress got revealed during the District Magistrate’s inspection of the under-construction terminal building and apron. 

The First phase of Ayodhya Airport’s construction is projected to wrap up by October:

  1. Director’s Vision: Vinod Kumar, Director of Maryada Purushottam Shriram International Airport, hints at beginning flights from this November. Destinations in the first phase are said to cover Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
  2. Looking Forward: Expansion of flights to other larger cities being on the cards, depending on passenger demand and influx.

With the aim to meet the standards of airport operation and launch it within this calendar year, the magnitude of human resources and machinery deployed has been scaled up. The first phase of Ayodhya Airport’s construction is projected to wrap up by October. So, pack your bags and prepare to explore the divinity of Ram’s city very soon.
