Amitabh Bachchan buys Rs 14.5 crore plot in Ayodhya ahead of Ram Temple’s ‘Pran Prathista’

Amitabh Bachchan plans to build a 10,000-square-foot mansion worth ₹14.5 crore.

Amitabh Bachchan purchased a ₹14.5 crore land to build a residence in Ayodhya ahead of the Ram Mandir’s ‘Pran prathista’ ceremony. The renowned Bollywood actor, who was born in Allahabad (now Prayagraj), purchased a plot in The Sarayu, a 7-star mixed-use enclave in Ayodhya developed by Mumbai-based The House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL), according to Hindustan Times.

According to sources acquainted with the deal, Amitabh Bachchan plans to build a 10,000-square-foot mansion worth ₹14.5 crore.

The Sarayu will be launched on January 22, the same day that the Ram Mandir’s ‘Pran Prathista’ event takes place. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya.

According to the Hindustan Times, when asked about his investment in the project, Amitabh Bachchan remarked, “I am looking forward to embark on this journey with The House of Abhinandan Lodha for The Sarayu in Ayodhya, a city that holds a special place in my heart. The timeless spirituality and cultural richness of Ayodhya have forged an emotional connection that transcends geographical boundaries. This is a start of a heartfelt journey into the soul of Ayodhya, where tradition and modernity seamlessly co-exist, creating an emotional tapestry that resonates with me deeply. I am looking forward to building my home in the global spiritual capital.”

Bachchans are the “first citizens” of the project Sarayu

Abhinandan Lodha, chairman of HoABL, described it as a “milestone moment” for his organisation, saying they were overjoyed to welcome Bachchan as the “first citizen” of The Sarayu, which is roughly 15 minutes from the Ram temple and 30 minutes from the Ayodhya International Airport.

Amitabh Bachchan’s involvement is in the planned building of an enclave that would include a five-star palace hotel in collaboration with Brookfield Group-owned Leela Palaces, Hotels, and Resorts. The project is anticipated to be finished in March 2028.

Ayodhya has seen tremendous infrastructural development since 2019, when the Supreme Court granted Hindus ownership of the site that housed the Babri Masjid, resulting in a jump in property values within the city and on its outskirts towards Lucknow and Gorakhpur.
