2 boys sexually assaulted by classmates at Delhi govt school’s summer camp

Two young boys, aged 12 and 13, have reported being sexually assaulted by their classmates. The alleged assault took place in April during a summer camp organized by the school.

A troubling incident has emerged from a governmental school in the Shahbad Dairy region of northwest Delhi. Two young boys, aged 12 and 13, have reported being sexually assaulted by their classmates. The alleged assault took place in April during a summer camp organized by the school.

The boys have filed separate complaints with the police, who have registered two cases and launched an investigation into the matter. The Delhi government has also established a committee to thoroughly probe the allegations.

The accused, all minors, were presented before a child welfare committee for further legal proceedings. DCW (Delhi Commission For Women) chief Swati Maliwal, acknowledging the severity of the incident, has issued notices to both the police and the school management, demanding swift action.

In the midst of these troubling developments, opposition BJP leaders are calling for the resignation of Education Minister Atishi. They argue that this incident is indicative of the declining condition of government schools in the national capital under the AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) rule.

One of the victims, a 13-year-old class 8 student, revealed that during the summer camp, his classmates coerced him into a park where he was sexually assaulted. The offenders threatened him into silence, leaving him too scared to confide in anyone. However, when the torment continued, he finally confided in his teachers, who shockingly, advised him to keep quiet about the incident. The boy eventually informed his parents, leading to a formal police complaint being lodged.

The Delhi government, in a statement, expressed profound sadness over the incident and assured that a thorough investigation is underway. It emphasized that any staff members who were aware of the incident and failed to report it would face serious consequences. The government is committed to taking swift and decisive action, refusing to tolerate such reprehensible actions in its educational institutions.

13-year-old student was sexually assaulted by other students

Reports from the DCW indicate that a 13-year-old student from a government school in Rohini was sexually assaulted by other students during the summer camp. He was forcibly taken to a nearby park and assaulted over a period of seven days. Despite threats from the perpetrators, the boy managed to inform his teachers of the ordeal, who, shockingly, asked him not to report the incident. A similar account was given by the 12-year-old victim, who was assaulted in the school toilet.

The DCW was informed that the parents of the 12-year-old boy learned about the incident six days ago. Upon confronting the school authorities, they were allegedly asked to keep quiet about the incident. DCW chief, Maliwal, expressed her outrage over the incident, promising to take stringent action against the perpetrators and provide support to the victims and their families.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva criticized the Delhi government for their claims of providing the best educational infrastructure and atmosphere in schools. He argued that under the AAP government, the conditions in government schools have actually worsened. He also highlighted the failure of the teachers to report the heinous crime, leading to the victims having to approach the police.

Similarly, Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri demanded the resignation of Education Minister Atishi, criticizing the decline in educational standards in Delhi government schools and the rising crime rate.

Sachdeva further pointed out that while the accused students will likely be arrested following the complaint, the issue doesn’t stop there. He insisted on a thorough investigation into the negligence shown by the teachers and the School Management Committee.

He questioned why the School Management Committee, the local MLA nominee, counsellors, or school mentors didn’t intervene and why the school’s CCTV system failed to capture the multiple instances of sexual exploitation.

In a related development, Delhi BJP workers, including party general secretary Kamaljeet Sehrawat, staged a protest outside AAP MLA Vinay Mishra’s office. This followed an incident where nearly 70 children from a government school fell ill after consuming a mid-day meal.
