Several people were injured, vehicles set ablaze, media attacked and an atmosphere of fear was prevailing due to a violent clash between groups of Hindus and Muslims on Sunday night.

SP Bhainsa said on the communal clashes that cases have already been registered with the police taking 50 people into custody, also prohibitory orders under section 144 have been imposed in the town of Bhainsa to prevent a further flare-up. An inquiry has also been initiated.

“Several people were injured, few vehicles torched in a clash between two groups in Bhainsa yesterday. Following the clash, 50 people were taken into custody & cases registered against them. CCTV footage of the area is being examined, further probe on,” Nirmal district SP said.

The cause of the flare-up is being attributed to a road rage between two motorcyclists which led to an argument and stone-pelting. The said incident happened in the Zelfekar lane of the city, when the police learned about the incident, they rushed to the spot according to reports.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah asked MoS(Home ) G Kishan Reddy to take stock of the situation and to bring it under control.

“Strongly Condemn the violence in Bhainsa yesterday, the attack on media personnel is disturbing and unfortunate. Spoke to the DGP of Telangana and asked him to arrest the culprits at the earliest and on the deployment of additional forces. Also spoke to Adilabad MP Sri Soyam Bapu Rao on the issue,” Kishan Reddy said in a tweet.

BJP MP from Nizamabad Arvind Dharmapuri gave a statement blaming AIMIM “The ruling Municipal MIM dispensation in Bhainsa is behind these communal clashes. They want to drive away Hindus from Bhainsa and TRS regime is being a puppet & a mute spectator of these horrific incidents. “

In a tweet, KT Rama Rao (Telangana Minister )said, “Peace & Harmony is fundamental to the progress of civilized society. Have requested Home Minister @mahmoodalitrs Garu & @TelanganaDGP Garu to take stern action to bring the perpetrators of violence in Bhainsa to justice.”

Bhainsa is a communally sensitive area with a history of clashes between the two communities with the major one being in 2008 when an altercation between Hindus and Muslims regarding a procession blaring out religious songs outside a Mosque took an ugly turn and turned into a riot-like situation. Last year too during the anti CAA movement the city witnessed some tensions. One can only hope that the situation is normal again with peace prevailing.
