Bengaluru man fakes himself as a doctor and engineer, marries 15 women

The man duped at least 15 women and got married to them before getting caught

Mysuru Police on Sunday caught a person for allegedly cheating women by posing as a doctor or engineer and then getting married to them. The man duped and married at least 15 women before being caught by the police.

According to reports, Mahesh Nayak, a resident of Bengaluru’s Banashankari created multiple matrimonial profiles claiming to be a doctor, engineer and even a civil contractor. The 35-year-old reportedly married at least 15 times since 2014 and has 4 children from these marriages. He also opened a fake clinic in Tumakuru and hired a nurse to show himself as a practising doctor.

A woman, a software engineer, whom he married had filed a complaint against him on the basis of which Mahesh was arrested by the police. After which many of his victims also came forward and reported to the police about how he duped them. One of the victims claimed that he harassed her for money for the clinic and when she declined, he ran away with her jewellery.

An attempt to murder was also registered against Mahesh by his father earlier, the police are also interrogating Mahesh to get more information on his victims. His victims were usually highly educated and working professionals who were not dependent on him financially and therefore even when they knew they were conned, they did not file any complaint fearing embarrassment and stigma.

Police have also said that Mahesh rarely met his wives and most of them did realise that something was fishy because of his poor English skills despite him claiming that he was a doctor or engineer.
