On Thursday, the US military airstrike against the Iranian based militants in Syria. The attack happened near the Iraqi-Syrian border. US president Joe Biden approves of this attack. He stated that it is sending a clear message to them that they won’t get away with everything scot-free. This is the first attack that happened under Biden’s administration 37 days after the Oath taking ceremony.

The Pentagon said the airstrike was in response to the rocket airstrike that happened in Erbil, Iraq. This attack led to the death of a local contractor. The rest of the 6 American service members were injured.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki stated that the attack was a straight forward message to those who threaten the sovereignty of the nation and its people. She also said that the attack was intentional to counteract the activities happening in Syria and Iraq.

According to the Pentagon’s spokesperson, the fighter aircraft F-15E Strike Eagle dropped explosives with precision destroying nine facilities and nearly destroying the rest of the two. He also said that there were casualties present but refused to mention the exact numbers. Kurishidi and Iraq Intelligence have provided information that led to the airstrike.

There was criticism surrounding the attack stating that Biden’s administration was acting like their predecessors. Syrian foreign minister condemns the attack saying it is a cowardly act done by the U.S on the areas near the border of Syria and Iraq. Iranian foreign ministry also condemns this airstrike as well. The ministry spokesperson told that it is a clear violation of human rights and called it “illegal aggression”.

Even the Russain foreign minister denounces the attack stating the airstrike was spontaneous. However, the Pentagon spokesperson clarified that the foreign ministry was informed 4 or 5 minutes before the attack.

People also pointed out the hypocrisy of Biden’s government of mocking Donald Trump. He called him an impulsive erratic and power-hungry president. Biden denounces the attack on Syria in 2017 under the Trump administration.

However, the attack was approved in April 2017 which was in retaliation against the chemical weapon attack by  Bashar al-Assad who used to attack the Syrians.

In the past, Biden himself was in great favour of the war and regime change.
