Afghan President Ghani found himself in a grave situation, comments the expert

After being elected as President, people had high hopes. But by looking at the condition of the state, Ashraf Ghani chances of being in power in later years is impossible.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in his tenure has attended numerous conferences, met with diplomats and delivered speech vowing to protect the citizens against the Taliban. Recently, he has inaugurated a dam. He is qualified and fit to be a leader of a nation judging by his background from being alumni of Berkley to a member of the United Nations. Not only this, but he is also an author of books like the Fixing Failed States and Afghan Lexicon.

Despite all of this, there are many politicians and political analyst who view him as an incompetent leader. He is surrounded by a cabinet of ministers who are either ignorant about the current scenario happening in the country or losing his closest allies. This is troublesome in a country where orthodox and extremist religious ideology exists.

On top of that, more than half of the population faces scarcity of hunger during the time of war crisis.  There is also a case of mal governance and corruption persisting throughout the land. There is no record whatsoever about huge amounts of foreign funds which are there with the government. Due to these above factors, there might be a chance that there will be an uprising of the Taliban once again.

At the same time, the US government is trying their best to bring back the troops from Afghanistan. This move will lead to the disintegration of the Afghan forces. Rahmatullah Nabi, former head of Afghan’s intelligence service says that the administration is getting weaker which leaves Ghani in a dire situation.

Ghani is losing his grip over things as the Parliament have twice rejected his proposed budget. The people in his administration seems to have a feeling of distrust towards him. The opposition has objected to or condemns his position. Taliban too are not interested in dealing with him.

Even the US government is slowly maintaining a distance from him even though they have put in efforts to curb the militancy of the Taliban and other terrorist organisation. The officials have given up on working with him as he comes as an inflexible person who denies making any comprises against enemies. Even Hemkat Khalil Karzai feels that Ghani deserves all the criticism due to his casual attitude to the situation in Afghanistan.
