Donald Trump’s Truth social app becomes most downloaded on Apple App Store within 24 hours of its launch

Truth Social, a social media platform made by Trump Media and Technology Group debuted on the Apple App Store in US.

Former US President Donald Trump’s social media app – Truth Social, went live on Apple App Store on Feb 21st. The social media app currently is only available for users from the U.S and on iOS devices only, the Android version of the app will be available soon.

The new social media app potentially marks the return of the former president to social media after they banned him from Twitter, Facebook and YouTube last year.

Users who downloaded the app Monday morning were greeted by a message inviting them to register for the service — but the signup process ended in a waitlist to access the platform that had already grown to more than 150,000.

Truth Social faced several glitches as soon as it was launched on Apple’s iOs. Users were either unable to register their accounts or they encountered “error” messages. However, TechCrunch reported, Truth Social became the highest-ranking free app on Apple’s App Store despite all the pitfalls.

The official website for Truth Social says “Truth Social is America’s “Big Tent” social media platform that encourages an open, free, and honest global conversation without discriminating against political ideology.”

Trump was barred from Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and other social media platforms after he made provocative statements on social media, which further led to the Capitol Hill riots on January 6 last year. CEO Devin Nunes of Truth social and a former Republic party member, told Fox News that the app would be available to more people in the Apple App Store. It will be made fully functional by the end of March at least within the United States.

Post-launch on Apple App Store, the Truth Social app quickly climbed the charts taking the numero uno spot in the social media category.
