After Hockey and Cricket, India to host Volleyball World Cup in 2023-24

Despite not being big in Volleyball, India expects to see global audience during the two-year event of World Championship.

The Volleyball World and the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) have announced India as the host for the men’s Club World Championship for two years.

The champions of the RuPay Prime Volleyball league will compete in the Club World Championship in 2023 and 2024 against some of the top teams from countries like Italy, Brazil and Iran.

This is massive achievement for Volleyball in India as the country has not been on the forefront of the global volleyball. This is also a great opportunity for both the fans and the players as the fans would get a chance to have a look at the world famous and skillful volleyball players and also for the players they will get a chance to test themsleves against the highest possible benchmark players.

The championships will be staged between December 6 and 10, 2023. The host city will be announced later this year.

For over 20 years, the Volleyball Club World Championships have featured the best men’s professional clubs from around the world, competing for the title of World Champions and a share of over USD 350,000 in prize money.

The RuPay Prime Volleyball League powered by A23 will stream live on Volleyball World TV outside the Indian subcontinent, starting on February 4. The qualified teams and final schedule for the Club World Championships will be announced later this year.

Till now there have been 17 editions of the Volleyball World Championships and Italy has won most of them with 11 titles. Brazil is on number second with 4 titles whereas Serbia and Russia have won 1-1 titles.
