Taliban now controls over 75% of Afghanistan; moving forward towards the capital Kabul with Pakistan’s help

Taliban have intensified their campaign, capturing five provincial capitals in two days. The latest to fall is Kunduz, capital of northern Kunduz province. Fierce fighting is going on in Badakhshan too.

With its weapons, logistics and medical supplies intact from Pakistan, the Taliban are on a military rampage in north Afghanistan with the objective of cutting off Ashraf Ghani government’s trade revenue and supply lines from Central Asia and Iran.

As the situation worsens for Afghanistan and the US retracting its troops, the Taliban has not only gotten powerful but have started their mission to control entire country and convert it into a terror state like Pakistan.

No country has been helping Afghans due to the ill-effects of getting on the hitlist of Taliban’s terrorist despite the cries of Afghanistan diplomats in the UN demanding action from the world as soon as possible.

A social media campaign against Pakistan and its “proxy war” in Afghanistan became a popular trend Monday, as the Taliban seized their fifth Afghan provincial capital since last week amid fighting with the country’s defence forces.

With over 3 lakh tweets, #SanctionPakistan was among the top trending hashtags on Twitter as Afghans took to the platform demanding sanctions against Islamabad for its alleged support to the Taliban.

On Monday, the Taliban fighters captured Aybak, capital of the northern province of Samangan. Lashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand province, is also under their control.

In the eastern province of Paktia, the insurgents had removed Nishan Sahib from the roof of a Gurdwara. It was restored later after India condemned its removal.

The withdrawal of foreign forces is due to be complete at the end of this month, ahead of the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks on the United States that sparked the invasion which toppled the Taliban.

The members of Afghanistan’s lower house have claimed that more than 60% of customs revenue is now being collected by the Taliban after they captured border crossing posts.
