“If you sat PM Modi with God, he would explain God…”: Rahul Gandhi attacks Indian govt in US

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi arrived in San Francisco for a three-city US tour during which he interacted with the Indian diaspora. He interacted with activists, academics and civil society at the University of California on May 31.

During a speech, Rahul Gandhi said India is being run by a group of people who are ‘absolutely convinced’ they know everything. “They could sit down with God and explain things and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is one such specimen,” he said.

Taking a jibe at PM Modi, he said, “I think if you sat Modi Ji down next to God, he would start explaining to God how the universe works. And God would get confused about what I have created.”

Gandhi said this group of people believes they can explain science to scientists, history to historians, and warfare to the Army while adding mediocrity is at the heart of it all and this group of people does not actually understand anything.

During his address, he also talked about the Bharat Jodo Yatra and the language politics in India. Gandhi said that the Congress decided to start the Bharat Jodo Yatra since political parties are finding it difficult to act politically due to alleged misuse of agencies by the Central government.

He further said that he would not allow anyone to threaten regional languages. Gandhi noted: “If anyone attacks any language, then it’s an attack on India”.

India has not rejected any idea, Rahul Gandhi said exhorting the NRIs at his address. “That’s the India you represent. You would not be here if you did not agree with these values. If you believed in anger, hatred, and arrogance, you would be sitting in a BJP meeting and I would be doing ‘mann ki baat’. So thank you very much for holding up the Indian Flag in India,” Rahul Gandhi said.
