The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting searches at 10 premises across Mumbai and Thane with links to Shiv Sena Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Pratap Sarnaik in a money laundering case.

Sarnaik is the MLA from the Ovala-Majiwada Vidhan Sabha constituency in Thane. He is also Shiv Sena’s Maharashtra Spokesperson and the Communication Leader for Mira-Bhayandar area.

Sena spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi accused the Centre of misusing central agencies to “silence opponents”. “ED is reduced to only enforcing centre’s whims&fancies. Our resolve to fight back only gets stronger. Bring it on. (SIC),” she tweeted.

Sarnaik, who represents the Ovala-Maijwada constituency, had moved a breach of privilege motion against Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami and also sought reopening of investigation into the suicide of interior designer Anvay Naik, who left a note accusing Goswami and two others of not clearing his dues.

He also once threatened Kangana Ranaut that says if she comes back to Mumbai (after calling it PoK, his warriors will break her.

The searches are being conducted by ED on the Tops Group (a company in the business of providing security) promoters and related people, including some politicians.

Leader of opposition and former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, said he wasn’t aware of the details of the ED action but nobody should be scared of any such action if they have done no wrong. “The Enforcement Directorate does not initiate any action unless it has solid evidence,” he said.
