Congress slams NDTV for reporting fake news of Gandhi’s resignation at CWC meet

After publishing a fake news based on sources' and being thrashed by Congress Spokesperson Randeep Surjewala, NDTV deleted the report from their website, however the tweets remained.

NDTV on Saturday claimed in a report (now deleted) that the three Gandhis will tender their resignations at the CWC meet taking responsibility for the party’s drubbing in the Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Goa and Punjab.

Reacting to the report, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said that the news story of alleged resignations based on unnamed sources is “completely unfair, mischievous and incorrect”. He further said that it is unfair for a TV channel to carry such “unsubstantiated propaganda stories” emanating from imaginary sources at the instance of ruling BJP.

The report published by NDTV was called out by netizens as well as made fun of by both opposition as well as the Congress supporters on Social Media as they turned back on their word trying to white wash their abrupt and false article.

According to a report by NDTV, the Congress party’s poor performance in the 2022 polls has revived criticism against the members of the Gandhi family and a need for an overhaul of the party’s leadership.

Among those who spoke out openly are senior Congress leaders Shashi Tharoor and Jaiveer Shergill.

The Congress Working Committee will be meeting in Delhi to discuss the ongoing poll debacles in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Goa, and Punjab. At the meet, the CWC may reportedly pitch advancing the internal elections that are slated to be held in September this year.

The development comes after the Congress party put up a dismal performance in the recently concluded assembly elections held in five states. With the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) forming the government in Punjab, the Congress party lost its hold on one of the last few states remaining under its rule.
