After 9 years of divorce, AIMIM leader takes friend to ex-wife’s house to forcefully do ‘halala’, booked

The woman told the police that her ex-husband Riazuddin Khan is the secretary of Asaduddin Owaisi’s party All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMMI) Uttar Pradesh. However, the accused says that he has resigned from the party a week ago.

Delhi Police has launched a probe against former AIMIM leader Riyazuddin for trying to have his ex-wife perform halala with his friend so that he could marry her again. An FIR has been lodged in the case at the Jamia Nagar police station in Delhi.

The accused has also been charged with attempted rape and assault. Based on a complaint lodged by the woman, police have lodged a case of molestation and criminal conspiracy against the accused former AIMIM leader.

According to the FIR, the woman who resides in the Jamia Nagar area along with her child had got married to Fariyad, the same friend of her ex-husband in 2012. He also ended the marriage by pronouncing triple talaq.

Now, after 9 years, Riyazuddin returned to her house along with his friend for the halala so that he could marry her again.

Riyazuddin has argued that if his ex-wife went ahead with the halala ritual, he could marry her again. However, he admitted that after she refused, he thrashed his ex-wife and also tore her clothes.

He even tried to force himself on her and rape her. The commotion and arguments inside the residence ringed across the locality and neighbours started to gather outside the residence during the incident.

The woman has mentioned in her complaint that the accused, Riyazuddin Khan, is the secretary of AIMIM in Uttar Pradesh. She has further alleged that he has been using his political clout to threaten her with murder.

The accused, on the other hand, has claimed that he has quit politics a week earlier and that the woman has been demanding money from him and is bringing false charges against him to extort money.
