India could soon witness the emergence of Ayodhya as a world-class city under Chief Minister Yogi’s ‘New Ayodhya’ plan. This comes after his much-reiterated desire of developing the city into an important tourist destination both for domestic as well as international tourists.

Ever since the foundation laying ceremony of the Ram Mandir, the number of visitors to the city has been increasing significantly, which emphasized the need to increase and improve facilities for them.

Along with this, various states have been wanting to set up their guest houses in Ayodhya, and religious organizations wanting to build temples, again, making it imperative for developmental work to be expedited in a time-bound manner.

For this, CM Yogi has directed officials to settle land acquisition and other logistical issues at the earliest so that the projects are completed as per schedule. The Ayodhya Development Authority has finalized the names of 3 firms, including a global consultant to prepare the blueprint for developing Ayodhya into a world-class city.

“Canada-based multinational firm LEA Associates South Asia Private Ltd and 2 Indian firms, Larsen and Toubro, and Kukreja Architects will work in conjunction to prepare the vision document, implementation strategy, and integrated infrastructure plan for Ayodhya,” said Vishal Singh, Vice-Chairman, ADA.

The firms would prepare the blueprint for town planning, transport, traffic, infrastructure, finance, economy, heritage, tourism, urban design, and renewable resources.

The final vision and cost outlay of the Rs 1,200-acre ‘Smart Ayodhya’ project would be finalized by the three consultants, keeping the city’s intrinsic religious character in focus while amalgamating it with modernity.

The project is expected to provide a significant boost to Uttar Pradesh tourism, especially as footfall of devotees from all over the world has been increasing day by day since the construction of the Ram Mandir began. This would also contribute to the economy of the region as new avenues open up in different sectors.

This much-awaited development at a site of such religious importance for the country and devotees worldwide, increasing the grandeur of Ayodhya multi-fold, would be an interesting sight to spectate.
