PM Narendra Modi inaugurates Bundelkhand expressway, built at a cost of around ₹14,850 crore, in Uttar Pradesh
The four-lane Bundelkhand Expressway’s foundation stone was laid by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 29, 2020, and its construction has been completed within record 28 months from commencement.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates the Bundelkhand expressway, built at a cost of around ₹14,850 crore, in Uttar Pradesh.
The expressway aimed at boosting connectivity and industrial development is 296-km long and will connect Chitrakoot with the Lucknow-Agra Expressway near Etawah.
The four-lane Bundelkhand Expressway’s foundation stone was laid by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 29, 2020, and its construction has been completed within record 28 months from commencement.
“Tomorrow, 16th July is a special day for my sisters and brothers of the Bundelkhand region. At a programme in Jalaun district, the Bundelkhand Expressway will be inaugurated. This project will boost the local economy and connectivity,” PM Modi tweeted on Friday.
The expressway has been constructed under the aegis of Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), and is aimed to provide a major push to economic development resulting in creation of thousands of jobs for the local people, said the Government of India in an official statement.
The expressway can later be expanded upto six lanes and extends from NH-35 at Gonda village near Bharatkoop in Chitrakoot district to near Kudrail village in Etawah district, where it merges with the Agra-Lucknow expressway. It passes through seven districts, viz. Chitrakoot, Banda, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Auraiya and Etawah.
Moreover, the work on the creation of industrial corridor in Banda and Jalaun districts, next to the Expressway, has already begun.
