PM Modi inaugurates 9 medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh

In a series of developmental projects in Uttar Pradesh, PM Modi on Monday inaugurated 9 medical colleges in the state in the districts of Siddharthnagar, Etah, Hardoi, Pratapgarh, Fatehpur, Deoria, Ghazipur, Mirzapur and Jaunpur.  Built at a cost of ₹2,329 crores, the colleges have now added a total of 2,500 new beds and created employment opportunities for more than 5,000 doctors and paramedics.

Addressing a public gathering after inaugurating the colleges, Prime Minister Modi said, “The nine medical colleges will fulfil the dreams of a healthy India. They are a gift to the people of the state.”

Taking a dig at the UPA regime, he said that the past governments left the people of ‘Purvanchal’ to suffer from diseases but now, it will become “a medical hub of northern India”.

“Before 2014, the medical seats in our country were less than 90,000. In the last 7 years, 60,000 new medical seats have been added in the country. Here in Uttar Pradesh too, till 2017 there were only 1900 medical seats in government medical colleges. Whereas in the government of double engine, more than 1900 seats have been increased in just the last four years,” PM Modi added.

Not only this, PM Modi has now also launched the Pradhan Mantri Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana (PMASBY) which is known to be one the largest pan-India scheme for strengthening healthcare infrastructure. This scheme will be in addition to the National Health Mission.

Meanwhile, CM Yogi Adityanath would soon be laying the foundation to houses for the poor and those belonging to the scheduled castes on land that has been recovered from the mafia and anti-social elements. As per reports, working journalists and practicing lawyers will also be allotted houses which will be built on this land.

It is worth noting that this land has been confiscated from the jailed mafia don and former MP Atiq Ahmed in Prayagraj. The property is reportedly worth around Rs 1,500 crore.

Talking about the same, CM Yogi said, “I am also surprised that leaders who talk about women welfare, their government did everything in the state to provide protection to the dreaded mafias,” added CM Yogi Adityanath referring to mafia-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, who was arrested early this year from Punjab and later brought to Uttar Pradesh. Ansari is currently lodged in Banda Jail.

Taking a dig at the opposition, he added, “Many will try to give patronage to the mafia as elections are approaching. I would like to remind those who want to have the company of mafias, a bulldozer will certainly follow them.”
