NIA arrests two Kerala women for ISIS links and promoting Islamic State ideology through social media

The two arrested were reportedly part of a group that was running various ISIS propaganda channels on different social media platforms, such as Telegram, Hoop, and Instagram, for radicalizing and recruiting new members.

The National Investigation Agency has taken two women into custody from Kannur in Kerala for their alleged links with the Islamic State (IS) terror group. The NIA has alleged that the two were spreading IS ideology through their social media platforms. The duo was taken into custody from their residences in Thana, a commercial suburb in Kannur city, agencies reported citing sources from the NIA.

The two women have been identified as one Shifa Harris and one Misha Siddique. According to reports, the two also tried to recruit people for the terror group.

Earlier in March, the NIA had arrested their accomplice, Musad Anwar from Kannur and registered a case against seven known and other unknown people.

The group in which they were active allegedly propagated ISIS ideology through a social media platform called Chronicle Foundation, reports said.

Earlier this month the NIA had raided few places in Jammu and Kashmir as well as Karnataka to probe the Kerala-IS module matter.
