India crosses 2.5 Million COVID-19 cases on 74th Independence Day; PM Modi hails 3 vaccines midway

After recording a single-day spike of 65,002 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, the total number of cases in India have reached 25,26,193.

The country reported 996 fresh fatalities in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 49,036. There are 6,68,220 active cases in the country, with at least 18,08,937 patients discharged/cured.

Paying tributes to all the Corona warriors in the country, PM Narendra Modi said “I bow down to all the Corona warriors who are putting up a brave fight in these times of crisis. In these times of COVID, Corona warriors have lived the mantra of ‘Seva Parmo Dharma’ and served the people of India.”

Referring to the vaccines and the situation of Coronavirus in the country, PM Modi said “Today, three vaccines are in testing stages in India. As soon as the scientists give a green signal, the country will begin their large scale production”

“We’re going through distinct times. I can’t see young children in front of me today (at Red Fort). Corona has stopped everyone. We will win over COVID-19, the resolve of 130 crore Indians will help us win” he added.
