JEE/NEET exams have become an anti-BJP agenda for Congress, while over 150 academicians write in support of the decision

“It is high time that the academic calendar for 2020-21 is gradually rolled out. The future of students cannot be held to ransom in the wake of Corona crisis”, they say in the letter.

If not now then when ask the majority of student who demand for the examinations to be held because if they are postponed for an infinite time, it’ll be there careers that would be affects while the opposition enjoy their politics.

The pandemic doesn’t seem to get better any soon as the cases are still on an exponential rise but since the examinations are themselves optional, the students are open to not appear for the exams say the government sources as they defend their decision, adding “we can’t keep careers of lakhs of students at stake because ‘some’ don’t want to appear under political pressure”

While the academicians say that over the last five months, the government and people have learnt about the virus and the necessary precautions. “Five months ago we needed to pause and understand. Today we need to stand up and ensure that the future of our students is safe. The government has assured that the required measures will be kept in mind while conducting the exams. We support this move with the hope that students will not lose crucial years due to the pandemic”, they opined.

They further write, “Youth and students are the future of the nation but in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, clouds of uncertainty have gathered over their careers too. There are a lot of apprehensions about admissions and classes which need to be resolved at the earliest”.

“We the members of academic fraternity fully support the government decision to conduct JEE and NEET exams”, they conclude their letter.
 
The Academics4Nation letter to the PM has been signed by over 150 professors, lecturers, academics from universities and colleges across the country.

On the other hand, Congress and opposition have found an agenda which according to them might help them in ruining the future of the country and BJP by portraying the entire government ‘anti-students’.

It is no surprise that the Social Media campaigns and protests being run have more politicians involved than students, barely 10% of the people who are against the exams are even enrolled for the same.

Continuing the public push to postpone the examinaitons, an online petition was started on change.org to postpone JEE and NEET 2020 examinations. The petition, started 6 days ago, has garnered over 1 lakh signatures so far. In another news, NTA has reported that over 14 lakh admit cards have been downloaded since the services were activated on the NEET website. 

Speaking to media, NTA DG, Dr. Vineet Joshi laid out the many precautions that have been put in place. Furthermore, measures like odd-even and social distancing as well as increasing exam centres have been put in place to ensure a safe environment for students appearing for JEE and NEET examination.
