Centre to open 31 BR Ambedkar institutes to provide free UPSC coaching

Students have to qualify the entrance test to be eligible for admission to these institutes.

Banaras Hindu University will host the launch of Dr Ambedkar Centre of Excellence on April 22, 2022. The Modi government is planning to help aspiring students of the SC and ST community with 31 coaching institutes for civil services examinations conducted by the Union Public Services Commission (UPSC).

The proposed institutes are being set up in 31 central universities from all over the country, Banaras Hindu University, being one of them. The launch of the programme is planned to occur at the Shatabdi Krishi Prekshagrih, Institute of Agricultural Sciences. Vice-chancellors of different universities, where the institutes are being set up, will be present at the ceremony.

Two MoUs will also be signed between the Dr Ambedkar Foundation and universities for setting up the institutes and Dr Ambedkar Chairs.

Each centre is going to have 100 seats per annum out of which 33 will be given to girls of the Scheduled Class(SC) community. Three faculty members will be appointed to carry out the functioning of the institute. There will be many state of the art facilities present at these centres, some of which are separate classrooms, libraries, hi-speed WiFi connectivity and other required infrastructure for smooth functioning. For taking admission to the centre to avail coaching, candidates will have to clear an entrance test.
