A joint team of Military Intelligence (MI), UP STF and local police seized over 1,50,000 illegally printed NCERT books estimated to be worth Rs 50 crore and six printing machines during a raid carried out at a facility near Kashigaon in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Sahni, the books were being illegally printed in the godown which belongs to one Sachin Gupta.

The godown located on Gagol road in Partapur area here has been sealed, Sahni said.

In the first week of August, local Military Intelligence (MI) officials received input regarding some suspicious activities in a godown near Kashigaon, Achronda Road under Partapur Police Station.

To rule out any possibility of anti-national activities ahead of Independence Day, sleuths of MI carried out surveillance of the facility. After gathering further inputs, it was learnt that the said facility houses a large number of illegally printed NCERT books. This input was shared with the local Special Task Force (STF) of the UP Police.

Finding a suitable opportunity, the facility was raided by a joint team of the Military Intelligence, UP STF and local police around 2:30 PM on Friday.
