Indian Navy’s Mig-29k fighter aircraft to be deployed in Ladakh to counter China along LAC

With jointmanship as the mantra for the three services of the armed forces, Navy’s MiG-29K fighter jets will be deployed in the northern sectors along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

While the Indian Army already has its formations deployed along the northern as well as western borders, the Indian Air Force (IAF) bases have been actively involved in operations along the LAC as well as Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan.

The Navy, which has so far participated in these land-operations with its surveillance capabilities, will thus be deploying a fighter element along the northern borders.

“It is being planned to deploy the MiG-29K fighter aircraft at an Indian Air Force base in the northern sector. They might be used for carrying out operational flying in the Eastern Ladakh sector along the Line of Actual Control (LAC),” a government source was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

The IAF has already positioned almost all its frontline fighter jets like Sukhoi 30 MKI, Jaguar and Mirage 2000 aircraft in the key frontier air bases in eastern Ladakh and elsewhere along the LAC, a move that came against the backdrop of the border row with China. Diplomatic and military talks between China and India are continuing for complete disengagement of troops from a number of friction points in eastern Ladakh.
