Mumbai man kills live-in partner, chops body with tree cutter and boils them in a cooker

A man killed his live-in partner, chopped her body with a tree cutter and boiled it using a pressure cooker.

A 56-year-old man, identified as Manoj Sahani has been arrested for killing his live-in partner at their rental apartment in Mumbai’s Mira Road area. Sources said that the accused chopped the body of his partner with a tree cutter in over 20 pieces and then boiled the chopped body parts in a pressure cooker.

The victim, Saraswati Vaidya, 36 had been living with the accused for the past three years in flat 704 at Geeta Akash Deep building in Geeta Nagar Phase 7. Manoj owns a shop in Borivali.

The residents of the building alerted Nayanagar police on Wednesday about the foul smell coming from the flat. The decomposing body parts found in the apartment led to a suspicion that the murder was committed three-four days ago.

Shrikant Pathak, Additional Commissioner of Police said, “The killing was committed on June 4, and the accused chopped the body into small pieces using two cutters, including an electric one. Some pieces of the body seem to be missing. We suspect the accused may have dumped the pieces gradually in different areas.”

DCP Jayant Bajbale added, “We nabbed the accused while he was trying to flee the building. We will be registering a case under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (destruction of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code. “

This horror murder is another reminder of the killing of Shraddha Walker who was murdered the same way by her live-in partner in Delhi.
