Love jihad case: Woman pushed into prostitution and raped by several men for 7 months

In the case of Love-Jihad, a woman was raped by a youth, his two brothers and a Maulana in the Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh, police said on Monday.

The girl, a resident of Gol Paharia in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh accused Imran, a resident of Dabra of alluring her into friendship and afterwards marriage by posing like a Hindu. The young lady let the police know that she had met the accused on some occasion in January 2021. He introduced himself as Raju Jatav. The couple experienced passionate feelings and started dating one another.

The young lady further said that when she became pregnant with his kid, Raju alias Imran forced her for an abortion. On September 18, 2021, the accused took her to a Sitala mandir and married her as per Hindu ceremonies.

She learned about her husband’s true religion and real name, Imran, after they got married. When she began living with Imran, a maulana arrived and informed her that the marriage was invalid and that they needed to marry according to Muslim rituals for which she needs to convert to Islam.

She claimed that when she refused to change her religion, her brother-in-law and the maulana raped her on the night of the marriage itself.

The victim-blamed the in-laws for thrashing her after the marriage and keeping her hostage for 7 months. She expressed that her mother-in-law, Suga Begum pushed her into prostitution. She was kept secured in a room, and a few young people would come in and assault her. On April 20, the door of the room was coincidentally left open. She made the most of the opportunity and escaped to her parents’ home. She then, at that point, portrayed her experience to her family, who thus, filed a complaint with the Gwalior police on Saturday (23 April 2022).

The victim additionally met Gwalior Superintendent of Police (SP Gwalior) Amit Sanghi and requested security. The SP guaranteed the family a fast and fair probe in the case. He said that a case has been lodged against the purported husband Imran, brother-in-law Aman, Punni, Maulana Osama Khan, and two unidentified others based on the complaint. For the case, police have captured two suspects, Imran and his mom Suga Begum, while three others are currently on the run. They are being questioned, he informed.

The district administration has also razed the illegal construction of the accused following the orders of CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The move was initiated after the wrongdoing was uncovered following a complaint submitted by the victim’s kin to the Gwalior police. At the point when police began exploring the case, it was uncovered that the accused had been residing in an illicitly built house.
